A cervical screening test is offered to women 25 to 74 years of age with a cervix. Routinely, it is performed every 5 years.
A sample is collected and tested for Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).
Please ask your doctor about self-collection as an alternative to clinician collected sample.

Faecal occult blood test (FOBT) is a home test kit designed to detect blood in the stools of asymptomatic individuals.
The kit is sent to people aged 45-74 years old to detect bowel cancer early.
If you are 45+ and haven’t received a kit in the mail, ask your GP for a test kit.

NSW Breast Screen invites women 50-74 with no symptoms to have a free screening every 2 years. Women in their 40’s and over 75 are also welcomed.

The perimenopause is the stage before you have your final period. Women as young as 40 may experience period changes and notice other physical and emotional changes.

Contraception options include barrier method e.g. condoms or oral contraceptives e.g. pills.
Long-acting contraceptives are hormonal injections, rod implant, or intra-uterine devices.

If you are at high risk for developing diabetes, having a health check every 3 years is recommended.
The 45–49 year health check is a preventative check. By looking at your medical history as well as lifestyle and family history, preventative actions may be recommended to reduce your risk of chronic disease.
